Covid vaccination

Look  here  for information (as at 4 January) about the local vaccination programme.  Basically GP-based vaccination has started in Alsager.

This video  from Merepark Medical Centre is also worth looking at.

In Alsager the 13 Club on Cedar Avenue is the vaccination centre.  Vaccination started on Friday 8 January, and at present there are just under 1000 Pfizer vaccines available which will be given on Friday and Saturday.  After that appointments will depend on when the next batch of vaccines arrives.   Note also that Alsager Pharmacy is being prepared as a vaccination centre, but they are also continuing to provide their normal services.

You can help the NHS deliver the COVID-19 vaccination programme effectively by following this simple guidance from the NHS:

  • We will contact people in the priority groups when it is their turn to receive the vaccine. Please do not contact the NHS to seek a vaccine before then.
  • When you are invited for a vaccine, please act on your invite and make sure you attend appointments when you arrange them.
  • Please continue to wear a face covering and abide by social distancing and hand hygiene guidance as, until the vaccine has been fully rolled out, this is the most effective way to save lives.

A scam is being reported whereby people are asked for money for a Covid vaccination.  Note that no money will ever be requested for a genuine vaccination.

Covid 19

As you know we are all in lockdown 3.  Basically, stay at home.

In the 7 days to 3 January Alsager, like everywhere else, has had a steep rise in terms of new cases.  Here are the figures:

Alsager East – 18 new cases, up 5 (38.5%), rolling rate 275 (was 153 week to 25 December)
Alsager West – 20 new cases, up 10 (100%), rolling rate 352 (was 176 week to 25 December)
Cheshire East – rolling rate 472 (was 226)
England – rolling rate 626 (was 374)

Local stabbing

Shockingly a woman working at Shady Grove Stores was stabbed on Friday morning as she asked a customer if he needed help.  The man fled and the woman was taken to hospital where her injuries are not life threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may help the ongoing investigation should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 890461.  One report says a man has been arrested.

Alsager Partnership

Many of you will know John Poulson who is Chair of Alsager Partnership.  He will be stepping down this month after six years and they are looking for a new Chair.  Here is the message John posted on Facebook.  Do ensure anyone who may be interested and suitable is made aware of this opportunity.

Exciting Volunteer Opportunity with Alsager Partnership!!!

I am John Poulson, the current Chair of Alsager Partnership and at our AGM on 27th January I will be finishing my 6-year term as leader of the Partnership.  I have had a great 6 years and during that time I like to think I have made a difference and we have delivered some amazing things for the community of Alsager but now it is time for someone else to take up the challenge.

Alsager Partnership is involved in a diverse range of activities involving business/Youth and our Dementia Friendly Community and we bring together people of all ages as well as businesses of Alsager.  Sometimes it is challenging but it is also very rewarding.

The Covid-19 epidemic has completely changed our plans during 2020 and we have had to rethink how we engage with our community and because of the uncertain future we have had to scale back on what we had planned for 2021 but having said that we will still be looking to stay connected with our community via our Youth/Business and Dementia Community projects.

Go to our website to find out more of what we do and check out our itsallaboutalsager facebook page. We currently have 6000 followers on social media including Instagram and twitter.

So, what sort of person are we looking for:

You must be able to build relationships at all levels as you will be helping to deliver Partnership projects and you will be involved with other Alsager Community Groups.  You will lead our Management Team meetings, setting agendas and ensuring we deliver to our plans.
You will prepare and present reports on Partnership achievements to our sponsors and our Partnership Forum members.  Like the rest of the Management Team, you will also help with the implementation of projects and initiatives and this could involve setting up staging/gazebos/bunting/selling raffle tickets/making tea and coffee/manning a partnership stall and engaging with all those who attend our Memory Café events.

So, if you have experience of leading a team, you are familiar with Microsoft Office, you have good communication skills then this could be an ideal opportunity for you.

All our meetings are achieved via ZOOM, so if you are already familiar with this that is a bonus, but we can give you training if you are not.

This is a volunteer position so your rewards are seeing how you can make a difference in our community.

If you are interested in being the new Chair of the Alsager Partnership Management, then drop us an email to telling us about yourself and your skills and why you would like to apply for this volunteer position.

Please respond no later than Wednesday 20th January
