Alsager Sports Hub

Phil Williams (Cheshire East and Alsager Town councillor) has compiled a report on issues arising from the Alsager Sports Hub – anti-social behaviour, misuse of sports pitches, parking issues.   Cheshire Police and Cheshire East are trying to help address some of these issues, for example CCTV connected to Cheshire East's central monitoring control room, Alsager PCSOs to be based at the sports hub's Collerick Pavilion.  Also proposals for better signage and more double yellow lines on Dunnocksfold Road and the road to Manor Farm.  Alsager Town Council has been asked to provide some input and support in terms of public engagement and the reinforcement of messaging around litter, the responsible exercise of dogs and respect for the facilities and local residents.

It's up to all of us to use this fantastic facility responsibly, and encourage others to do the same.

More houses

With thanks to Alsager Chronicle

In 2018 outline planning permission was given for 16 new houses in land off Close Lane.  The developer is now seeking reserved matters approval for appearance, landscaping and scale, including an access route to the site adjacent to 68 Close Lane. A number of objections were submitted by the deadline of 14 April with concerns about drainage and flooding, loss of trees and the increase in traffic.  The application is to be determined under delegated authority at Cheshire East Council with a decision target date of 31 May.

Test and trace

With thanks to Alsager Chronicle

Cheshire East Council and "NHS" Test and Trace have launched a new pilot programme (known as Local-0) to help reach people who have tested positive for coronavirus sooner.  It will use local expertise by bringing them into local teams at the same time as the case is entered into the national system.  The council will now contact the individual directly rather than the national service, and will be responsible for instructing the individual to self-isolate.

Long covid

With thanks to Alsager Chronicle

A long-covid pathway designed to support patients with symptoms for covid-19 lasting more than 12 weeks is being developed for Cheshire and Merseyside patients.  However, the centre is expected to be located in Liverpool which has been criticised as being too far for residents of eastern Cheshire.

Covid 19

In the 7 days to 17 April there have been very few cases in Alsager, fewer than 3 in Alsager East, just 3 in Alsager West (rolling rate 53).  Cheshire East rolling rate is 17 (14 last week), England is 24 (28 last week).
