You will be aware that CEC recently moved from a Cabinet system to a Committee system of decision-making. This has been generally welcomed as an improvement to democracy. However, it has become apparent that one aspect is less optimal. Under the old system members of the public could ask scrutiny committees any question related to their remit, but under the new system they can only ask questions related to agenda items. Questions can be asked at full council, but this meets only five times a year. It is hoped that when the system is reviewed the public will again be able to ask questions within the remit of the relevant committee.

Last week I reported that the IvyMay proposals to build a crematorium with burial space have collapsed because of the objection of residents. However, The Chronicle now reports that this was an error.
A further significant increase in Cheshire East and England this week, so please still be vigilant.
In the 7 days to 19 June there have been fewer than 3 cases in Alsager West (suppressed) and 8 cases in Alsager East, up 4 (rolling rate 122 – was 61). Alsager West is the only white area surrounded by a sea of green and blue.
Cheshire East rolling rate is 142 (119 last week), England is 101 (75 last week).
